Romantic and Soft Poetry of Delaney

Night Falls On The Apple Orchard
by: Delaney

In a soft hollow
of a well-worn mattress,
I am warm, tired,
Ivory-smelling clean,
watching apple tree shadows
do their midnight moon dance
against a lavender screen.

Night Falls On The Apple Orchard
by: Delaney

In a soft hollow
of a well-worn mattress,
I am warm, tired,
Ivory-smelling clean,
watching apple tree shadows
do their midnight moon dance
against a lavender screen.

Here I am, a sparrow
cupped in a weathered
winter nest, my heart beats
at a slow peaceful pace –
there are no ghosts here
in this gentle room,
tonight, I am filled with grace.

Before my prayers
are sent up high, before
my body sings its lullaby,
I close my eyes
to bring you closer to me,
make a place for you
inside my heart so we
will find a dream together.
